Grand Rapids-based Varnum has further expanded its Ann Arbor office with a move to 101 N. Main St., Suite 525. The move comes three years after the firm opened its office in Ann Arbor’s Kerrytown neighborhood and five years after establishing a presence in the city.
“It was very important to us that we be downtown, in the heart of the city,” says Matt Bower, lead attorney in the office. “In addition to being in walking distance to the courthouse and Main Street amenities, the larger space will help us keep up with our growing head count in Ann Arbor.”
Eight attorneys are based in the office, which can accommodate about twice that. The new space includes a covered parking lot.
Other attorneys include Christopher Baker, Christopher Ballard, Tom Forster, Matthew Maltz, Rick Manczak, Sarah Wixson and Rebecca Wrock. Practice areas span business and corporate work, real estate and estate planning, and specialized service offerings to the regulated beverage control industry and health care profession.
“While the office has particular strengths in business, corporate, and real estate matters, we are a full-service law firm offering an array of sophisticated legal offerings, no matter which office you visit,” Bower says.
Varnum’s client base in southeast Michigan has grown more than 50 percent in the past five years, and the majority of the attorneys who have joined the firm in the past year and a half are in one of the firm’s four offices in the region. Varnum’s other offices are in Detroit, Birmingham, Novi, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Grand Haven. These eight offices have more than 170 attorneys, and the firm offers counsel to growing businesses and institutions throughout the state and Midwest.
