General Motors has partnered with Telogis Inc. to help companies and businesses manage their fleet vehicles by integrating Telogis’ location intelligence software with OnStar. The partnership will provide fleet owners with data access that helps control costs, increase safety, and enhance fleet operations, the automaker announced today.
“The combination of OnStar’s industry-leading, unique infrastructure, and the Telogis platform will allow fleet managers to keep their vehicles running smoothly on the road,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president of GM Fleet and Commercial. “This is the next step in expanding our connected vehicle service offerings to help fleets operate more efficiently and identify cost savings.”
Telogis provides a cloud-based location intelligence platform for companies that require route optimization, real-time work order management, commercial navigation, telematics, and mobile integration services for their workforces on the road. The data is transmitted from the vehicle using OnStar technology, allowing fleet customers to make decisions related to vehicle location, odometer, fuel consumption, and other maintenance information.
“GM customers have easy access to powerful analytics and connected intelligence that will transform the way their business is done outside the four walls,” said Susan Heystee, executive vice president of worldwide sales at Telogis.
The Telogis platform is the first set of commercial applications to use OnStar’s proprietary APIs since GM and OnStar introduced an online portal that allows developers to work with the automaker to design, test, and deliver automotive apps and services.
The Telogis fleet telematics solution, which requires no additional hardware or third-party installation costs, will be available this spring.
