The GM Company Store, a retail space that offers merchandise representing Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac, has officially opened today at General Motor Co.’s downtown Detroit global headquarters at the Renaissance Center.

Located on the first floor of the Renaissance Center at the GM Wintergarden, the 2,000-square-foot store will sell branded hats, T-Shirts, coats, backpacks, gym bags, framed prints, small car models, and more.

“There is no location in the entire country where you can see a volume of branded product representing all four (GM) brands,” says Steve Stanford, trademark licensing manager for GM. “I think we have something for everybody in terms of price points and available merchandise.”

He says the merchandise store will accommodate customers and enthusiasts, and allows the company to extend its audience to sports fans that frequent nearby Comerica Park, Ford Field, and Joe Louis Arena.

The GM Company Store will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and occasionally on the weekends. The store will also be open for special events, such as the upcoming North American International Auto Show.

The company currently has three employees on staff, including a manager, office manager, and a part-time employee. If the store proves to be successful, then the company will create additional positions, Stanford says.

For those who are unable to visit the store, products will also be available for purchase on the company’s website.

The opening of the new store is part of a larger renovation project that includes updates to the public spaces in the Renaissance Center. Along with the store, GM will add an immersive experience with interactive exhibits that will be designed to highlight innovation, technology, and design across the company’s global brands. The expansion will be completed by summer 2017.
