Want to go camping but aren’t ready to give up creature comforts? The Fields in South Haven will open a glamping (glamorous camping) location on a blueberry farm.

The 30-acre site will offer tents that can accommodate up to two adults and two children and are furnished with a wood-burning stove, king-size bed, luxury linens, in-suite bathrooms, luxury bathroom amenities and towels, and stylized fixtures and seating. Guests also will have access to chef-prepared meals and on-site and local activities.

“I grew up in South Haven and lived between town and my family’s working farm,” says Irene Wood, creator and owner of the property. “As a child, I appreciated the luxuries that the town offered, along with being able to connect with nature on the farm. It was the best of both worlds. That seamless duality is what we will deliver to each person that visits The Fields.”

The Fields is located 3.5 miles from Lake Michigan and will feature 10 rooms. Two common areas will be available to glampers. The Willow, an indoor space, will host guest meals, snacks, and daily activities. Pine Point will offer an outdoor fire pit.

On-site activities will include hiking in the garden, picking blueberries, yoga, fishing, gardening, and more. The concierge team also can help guests find local activities including cheese making, sailing, paddle boarding, wine tasting, fishing, horseback riding, and access to seasonal events.

Chef Sean Hale will lead the culinary team. Hale is a South Haven native who graduated from The French Culinary Institute. He previously was part of The Ritz Carlton’s Culinary Task Force in the Caribbean.

“We are committed to taking full advantage of the local, farm-fresh products that we are privileged to have at our fingertips here in Michigan,” says Hale. “We want bounty of the land around us to feed our guests, connecting them to nature from a culinary point of view.”

Complimentary breakfast will be served at The Willow each morning, and lunch and dinner will be available for order-ahead purchase. Meals start at $20 per person.

Grilling and grilling kits also will be available, as well as an onsite mini mart.

The Barn will be available for private events. The 1,500-square-foot space will be able to host up to 100 guests. It is expected to start taking reservations by June 15 and will be available for events daily from June 1-Nov. 1.

The Fields will open this summer, and booking will be available through October. It will accept reservations seven days a week. Rates start at $329 a night. Booking is available here.
