Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan to Sell Another Camp

3003

The Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan are selling Camp O’Fair Winds in Columbiaville, northeast of Flint, for $1.1 million. Two other properties, Camp Innisfree in Howell and Camp Metamora in Metamora, went up for sale a year ago and have not been sold.

The nearly 380-acre Camp O’Fair Winds property, located at 3225 McKeen Lake Rd., offers frontage on McKeen Lake, according to Insite Commercial, a real estate company based in Commerce Township who is marketing the properties on behalf of the Girl Scouts. All buildings have been removed from the property.

Camp Innisfree in Howell is a 994-acre property, which includes its own 75-acre lake and buildings that could be used for lodging, classrooms, or dining halls. The asking price for Camp Innisfree is $10.2 million.

Camp Metamora offers nearly 310 acres with a private 20-acre lake. All camping facilities have been removed from the property. The asking price for Camp Metamora is $4.4 million.

In a DBusiness interview in January 2015, Bill Sengstock, facilities director for the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan, said the organization’s campsites were being consolidated after a four-council merger in 2009 that resulted in six camps. He said the group would continue to provide camping opportunities at Camp Hawthorn Hollow in Columbus and Camp Playfair in Lexington, both in the Thumb area.
