Freelance drivers in Los Angeles now have access to Maven Gig, a General Motors Co. program that allows drivers to rent vehicles for a flat weekly rate that includes the car, unlimited miles, insurance, and maintenance. Maven Gig is now available in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego, and future cities include Detroit, Baltimore, Boston, Phoenix, and Washington, D.C.

“We are committed to bringing Chevrolet Bolt EVs to all Maven Gig markets. Drivers want the Bolt EV because of cost savings as well as helping with energy and environmental goals,” says Rachel Bhattacharya, chief growth officer for Maven. “The freelance economy is growing and Maven Gig is growing along with it to provide transportation solutions for freelance drivers.”

Maven Gig weekly pricing begins at $189 plus taxes for a Chevrolet Cruze, $209 for the Chevrolet Malibu, $219 for the Trax, $225 for the Impala, and $229 for the Bolt EV, which has an EPA-estimated range of 238-all electric miles. It is one of Maven Gig’s most popular vehicles.

The Chevrolet Bolt EV is available for reservation with EVgo charging stations available at no cost for a limited time. There are more than 100 Bolt EVs available in Los Angeles and the number is expected to double by the end of the year. San Francisco is expected to have more than 125 Bolt EVs by year-end, and when Maven Gig debuts in Boston, the program will have 20 Bolt EVs and scale as infrastructure allows.

Since this Feb., Maven Gig’s Bolt EVs have driven 1.4 million electric miles in California and saved an estimated 50,000 gallons of gas.

Maven Gig’s mobile app was launched in Nov. 2016 and allows drivers to earn money with multiple ridesharing services. More information about Maven Gig can be found here.
