Grand Haven-based GeekMyTree LLC, a manufacturer of LED Christmas lighting displays, has introduced a set of Christmas tree lights to create full-color light shows with more than 15 different types of effects.
Brad Boyink, president of GeekMyTree, says the Animated GlowBalls offer a hassle-free way to decorate a six- to eight-foot Christmas tree. The product has a single-wire design, and exclusive vertical hanging system allowing the customer to know the position of every light so it can create personalized light-show effects.
Boyink says customers can create a playlist via a free smartphone app of their favorite animated displays.
“Ever since the introduction of pre-lit trees, our customers have asked for ways to achieve a custom look with specialty lights, but none has been available,” says Sandra Schafsnitz, a tree buyer at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland in Frankenmuth, where Animated GlowBalls are sold. “Animated GlowBalls from GeekMyTree is the first product to solve this problem.”
The product contains two, full-spectrum LEDs with 50,000 hours of life. Boyink says GeekMyTree is also developing another version of the Animated GlowBalls that will include choreographed music and will be available next year. In addition, the company plans to introduce a window kit for other holidays.
He says the Animated GlowBalls are available at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, Christmas-LEDs.com, and GeekMyTree.com.
Boyink also co-owns Meal Magic Corp. in Grand Haven with Jim Swarts. The company, founded in 1988, provides point of sale software systems that track meal benefit applications and nutritional analysis for dozens of schools.
