Quicken Loans, which has been responsible for bringing and hiring thousands of employees to downtown Detroit, is now offering free Wi-Fi service in Campus Martius Park and Cadillac Square.

The service is sponsored by Bedrock Real Estate Services, an affiliate of Quicken Loans and metro Detroit Internet provider 123.NET.

The free public Wi-Fi network is part of Opportunity Detroit, a collaboration of Detroit-based businesses that promote live and work opportunities in the central business district complemented by the latest technology offerings.

“Our goal is to get more and more companies and more and more people to move their offices and homes here,” says Jim Ketai, managing partner of Bedrock. “Wi-Fi would present a sense of place. Our mission is to bring more people to Detroit.”

The free Wi-Fi service came about via Quicken Loans’ internship program. The company, which did not have enough workspace for its interns, added Wi-Fi access in Campus Martius, Cadillac Square, the First National Building, Chase Tower, and the 1001 Woodward Building.
