As investment in the Michigan cannabis industry grows, one of the region’s sports stars has launched his own brand.
Darren McCarty, former Detroit Red Wing and four-time Stanley Cup champion, has developed the Darren McCarty Brand in collaboration with Farmington Hills-based Pincanna.
The brand’s Pucker Up pre-rolls are expected to hit Pincanna store shelves on Thursday in Kalkaska, Mich. The rolls also will be available for purchase at three additional retail locations across the state. They combine THC and CBD with a five-to-one ratio.
“We’re excited to launch with the Pucker Up strain as this is the perfect plant profile for everyone to enjoy…even the novice,” McCarty says. “And, we’ve of course included CBD, to help us all chill out.”
McCarty is working with Pincanna’s Farm in Pinconning, Mich. Future products for the brand include a CBD rub, gummies, various marijuana strains, and a high-potency marijuana-infused chocolate peanut butter candy bar.
“Words can’t express how grateful I am to have this opportunity to spread the love and benefits of cannabis,” McCarty says. “This is just the start of creating an amazing collection of medical cannabis products to help others with their wellness practices as they seek to relieve body aches and pains.”
Pincanna is a licensed vertically integrated cannabis company. Its cultivation and manufacturing facility is under construction on 185 acres in Pinconning, which incorporates the company’s 135,000-square-foot cultivation space with greenhouse and indoor environments, as well as its manufacturing facility that will produce concentrates, edibles, topicals, and other products.
The company recently opened its Kalkaska retail location and plans to open others throughout the state. Other brands it offers include Radicle Genetics, Michigan Organic Rub, Funky Extracts, and Superior Solventless.
