Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn is introducing a new special edition F-150 Lightning Platinum Black EV truck designed to provide buyers with a distinctive vehicle that has premium black matte features.

The F-150 Lightning Platinum Black will have a monochromatic look and is Ford’s first matte-wrapped production truck. It will feature 22-inch matte black platinum wheels, black Ford oval badging, power deployable running boards, and a soft-shell black tonneau cover.

“Ford is no stranger to limited-edition vehicles, and the F-150 Lightning Platinum Black is taking our award-winning electric truck to new levels of stealth and style,” says Dave Pericak, director of EV truck programs for Ford. “This is the perfect choice for those customers looking to make a statement.”

The manufacturer suggested retail price will be $97,995, and the truck is expected to have a targeted EPA estimated range of 300 miles with a standard-extended battery. Ford expects to manufacture a total of 2,000 such vehicles, with delivery beginning in early 2024.

The truck will feature enhanced technology from Ford, including the company’s available BlueCruise hands-free highway driving tech which allows the driver to change lanes hands-free by tapping the turn signal once the path is clear, and in-lane repositioning to help keep the vehicle in its lane while shifting position away from vehicles in adjacent lanes.

In addition, the truck will offer Ford’s Pro Power Onboard system with 9.6kW of exportable power that can work while the vehicle is switched off.

“Seventy percent of adults globally believe that their actions can influence positive change,” says Jennifer Brace, chief futurist for Ford. “The F-150 Lightning serves as a beacon of hope for people because they can rely on the electric truck to provide to those in need or keep the lights on at home during an outage in the neighborhood.”
