Dearborn-based Ford Motor Co. is kicking off Go Detroit, a challenge designed to stimulate new ideas and find ways to better connect Detroit communities through mobility solutions.
Go Detroit organizers say they are working with city stakeholders to identify transportation issues faced by residents and commuters. App developers and entrepreneurs can now submit ideas designed to improve the safety, access, and availability of transportation solutions throughout Detroit.
“Ford is interested in working with innovators so that automotive advances and communities near and far can continue to prosper,” says Bill Coughlin, president and CEO of Ford Global Technologies.
Chosen semifinalists will refine their submissions by working with Ford mobility experts, Detroit stakeholders, and the startup accelerator Techstars Mobility.
Semifinalists will present their solutions to a panel of Ford experts and city representatives who will select six winners. Winners will receive cash rewards totaling $60,000.
Social entrepreneur submissions are due Jan. 1., app developer submissions are due Feb. 7, and the grand final event for Go Detroit will be held on March 30.
Ford is working with 100%Open, a London-based business-to-business services company, and Devpost, a New York City-based technology platform, to produce Go Detroit.
