Dearborn-based Ford Motor Co. today announced the arrival of the 2018 Mustang in Los Angeles. The sports car features a sleeker design, more advanced technology, and better performance.

The 2018 model offers Ford’s first 12-inch all-digital LCD screen in the dashboard, a customizable instrument panel that can offer three separate views, including normal, sport, and track mode, and the all-new Mustang MyMode, which offers memory functions so owners can save their favorite drive settings, including suspension and steering preferences.

Other new features include Ford driver-assist technology such as pre-collision assist for pedestrian detection, distance alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a driver alert system. In turn, Ford SYNC Connect with FordPass allows drivers to synch their smartphones and use an app to start, lock, unlock, and locate their vehicle.

“The new Mustang is our best ever, based on more than 50 years as one of the iconic sports car in America and now, the world,” says Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of The Americas. “Tapping Mustang’s enormous fan base, we’re bringing the new Mustang straight to the people — and introducing the new car across multiple social media channels, reaching millions.”

The new Mustang allows owners to customize the vehicle to their preferences, including three new paint colors, 12 distinct wheel choices, and a customizable digital instrument cluster. The vehicle can be equipped with a more powerful engine and MagneRide suspension technology for optimum handling, as well.

The 2018 Mustang will be available for purchase in North America this fall.
