Fogo De Chão Brings Brazilian Steakhouse Cuisine to Troy

After nearly 40 years, Southern Brazilian steakhouse Fogo De Chão has announced its first Michigan location on West Big Beaver Road in Troy. Beginning Nov. 6, the restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner and feature two levels that offer a panoramic view of traditional Brazilian-trained gaucho chefs.

Fogo De Chão’s culinary program features churrasco, the Brazilian technique of roasting meat over an open flame, and espeto corrido, which means continuous tableside service. The team is led by head gaucho chef Thiago Moreira, who grew up in Cidade Gaúcha, a small town in southern Brazil.

“We’re excited to bring our truly authentic dining experience from southern Brazil to Troy and metro Detroit,” says Larry Johnson, CEO of Fogo de Chão. “We believe our unique, award-winning experience will be a great addition to metro Detroit’s growing and dynamic restaurant scene.”

The Fogo De Chão menu is anchored by a variety of fire-roasted meats carved tableside by gaucho chefs, including ribeye, double-cut lamb chops, and picanha. The Troy location will be the first city to debut Fogo De Chão’s new dinner menu, which offers a variety of portions and pricing.

The Fogo Experience features the traditional prix fixe menu including classic cuts as well as the seasonal market table and feijoada bar’s salads, imported charcuterie, cheeses, fresh vegetables, and Brazilian side dishes. The select cut begins at $29 and offers a choice of one meat to accompany the variety of sides, while continual service of beef, chicken, lamb, and pork are available for $42. Brazilian-inspired seafood options are also available a la carte.

Additionally, lunch service is available for $15 and Fogo De Chão offers a weekend Brazilian brunch featuring the traditional churrasco experience, fresh fruit and yogurt, and additional breakfast items like pão de queijo egg bake and braised beef rib hash. Brazilian twists on brunch cocktails include the cachaça Bloody Mary and passion fruit mimosa.

Group and private dining is also available for large parties or corporate meetings, and guests can utilize complimentary A/V equipment and semi-private dining space.

Fogo De Chão will also have a wine list and craft cocktail menu highlighting Brazil’s national drink, the Caiprinha, as well as desserts.

Fogo De Chão is located at 301 W. Big Beaver Rd and will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 2-10:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2-9 p.m. on Sunday.
