Five Iron Golf, an indoor golf and entertainment venue with high-tech simulators, food, and cocktails, is debuting July 14 at the newly opened Cambria Hotel Detroit in downtown Detroit.
The golf center, located at 600 W. Lafayette Blvd., covers approximately 24,000 square feet of street-level space inside one of downtown’s newest hotels.
Five Iron Golf features custom-built simulators powered by TrackMan Golf, which uses multiple high-speed cameras to capture every angle of the golf swing in every bay. TrackMan can tell users about their club head speed, swing path, and club head face angle at impact. Once airborne, the system captures back spin, side spin/spin axis, distance, and flight path.
In addition to golf, the new location offers two bars with multiple widescreen TVs, leisure games like shuffleboard, darts, and arcade classics, as well as an extensive menu of appetizers and small bites. In addition, guests can enjoy beer on tap, classic cocktails, and canned beverages.
Once open, Five Iron Golf at the Cambria Hotel Detroit will be available for golf lessons, corporate events, private parties, and leagues. Memberships also are being offered.
Five Iron Golf originated in New York City in 2017 and has expanded to Chicago, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., Seattle, and Cincinnati in addition to Detroit. New locations are expected to open in 2024.
The Cambria Hotel Detroit is part of the Choice Hotels International Inc. family of brands. It is a 154-room hotel in the former Walker-Roehrig Building. It was developed by Koucar Management in Clawson.
This Albert Kahn-designed building, which was built by The Detroit News, opened in 1936 at Lafayette and Third streets as the home of WWJ-AM’s studios. The radio station serves as an all-news radio station that today is located in Southfield.
