Fiat Owners Get Chance to Test Driving Skills at Michigan International Speedway

Fiat 500 Abarth owners will get a chance to test and develop better driving skills — through professional instruction — at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn on June 23-24.

“The Abarth Track Experience allows owners to take the fun-to-drive factor of the ‘small but wicked’ Fiat 500 Abarth to new limits,” says Jason Stoicevich, head of Fiat Brand North America.

As part of a national tour, Abarth drivers will learn how to maximize their driving skills on the street and on the track through four driving modules: driving dynamics, an introductory course in racing and the theories of driving; performance drive, a three-lap time-trial competition; head-to-head challenge, a battle between two people to complete one lap in the fastest time while staying penalty-free; and autocross, a classic race against the clock.

Participants will be able to experience the Fiat 500 Abarth’s optional six-speed automatic transmission, new for the 2015 model year, and will end their day by riding shotgun with professional drivers.

“With the success of the Abarth Track Experience last year and the popularity of the newly introduced, specially tuned automatic transmission option, we’ve added stops this year to ensure more Abarth owners have the opportunity to develop their driving skills in a safe track environment,” Stoicevich says.

This year, the tour begins Feb. 16 at Laguna Seca in Salinas, Calif. with additional stops in Texas, Florida, New Jersey, and Illinois.

Fiat 500 Abarth owners, ages 18 and up and who purchased their vehicle new, are eligible to register for the sessions at
