Quix Chocolate announced plans to open a new retail location in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor before the summer of 2026. The new shop will be located at 107-109 E. Liberty St., in the former Kilwins Chocolates space.
The Ann Arbor location will feature the Ferndale-based company’s signature Michigan-made Belgian chocolates and confections, alongside Illy coffee, Guernsey ice cream, milkshakes, and the brand’s own hot chocolate, creating a year-round destination for downtown residents, students, and visitors.
“Starting up in Ferndale, we’ve always believed strongly in community and providing a welcoming happy experience,” says David Ogloza, founder of Quix Chocolate. “We want people that eat our chocolate, to have a moment of joy. We’re excited to bring a Michigan-made product to downtown Ann Arbor and aim to fill the void with a local offering that Kilwins was once known for.”
Ogloza adds that while the space honors its history as a go-to chocolate and ice cream destination, Quix Chocolate plans to expand the experience.
“In addition to chocolate and ice cream, we’re excited to add Illy coffee, milkshakes, and our famous hot chocolate to the mix,” he says.
Located in one of downtown Ann Arbor’s busiest pedestrian corridors, the new shop is designed to be both a neighborhood favorite and a must-visit stop for visitors exploring the city.
Additional details, including an official opening date, renovation plans, and hiring announcements, will be shared as the project moves forward.
In addition to its Ferndale headquarters, Quix Chocolate operates at the Evans Terminal at Detroit Metro Airport in Romulus and offers a limited assortment of its chocolate bars and confections at 56 grocery stores in Michigan.
