Bollinger Motors revealed Thursday its four-door B1 all-electric sport utility truck and B2 electric pickup truck at a launch event at its campus in Ferndale. The beta prototypes are a step toward production.

The trucks are the first all-electric off-road and on-road trucks in the world. Built on the Bollinger Motors Class-3 truck platform, both are created with the same basics that the team used in 2017. Capabilities include 15-inch ground clearance, 10-inch wheel travel, a patented pass-through door, and 5,000 pounds of payload. They are engineered to be road legal around the globe.

The trucks have dual motors, 614 horsepower, and 668 lb.-ft. of torque. Their top speed is 100 mph, and it takes 4.5 seconds for them to go from 0-60 mph.

Robert Bollinger, founder and CEO, says his goal is to “reinvent trucks, not just electrify them.” His vision took root in 2015 when he recognized the shortcomings of traditional trucks on his farm and founded the company.

“It was time we did something new,” he says. “I just wanted to build the best truck without compromise.”

More details regarding pricing, manufacturing, and a timeline will be announced in the coming months.
