Ferndale-based Bollinger Motors has unveiled its patent-pending E-Chassis and classifies it as the world’s first and only Class 3 electric platform. It was built for commercial applications and is the same platform used by Bollinger’s B1 Sport Utility Truck and B2 Pickup.

The platform will accommodate future models Bollinger develops.

“When we first built our Class 3 B1, we knew there was a commercial aspect to the platform,” says Robert Bollinger, CEO of Bollinger Motors. “Not only cab-on-chassis, but entirely new truck bodies can fit on our E-Chassis and help propel the world to all-electric that much faster.”

Features include a 120 kWh battery pack with an optional 180 kWh battery pack, all-wheel drive, all-terrain, dual motor, portal gear hubs, 5,000-lb. payload, a low center of gravity, a fit that adjusts to various wheelbases, hydraulic anti-lock power brakes, and electronic traction control.

Other offerings include electronic stability control, hydraulic power steering, hydro-pneumatic self-leveling suspension, independent front and rear suspension, 5-15 kw on-board charger/inverter, complete power system controls that are configurable to the given vehicle applications, and an integrated thermal management system.

It can be configured for front- or rear-wheel drive configurations and work with or without portal gear hubs.

The E-Chassis will be manufactured alongside B1 and B2 trucks and made available for commercial use in 2021.

Bollinger was founded in 2015 and will manufacture electric on- and off-road trucks.
