Auburn Hills-based FCA US LLC (Chrysler) will partner with CNH Industrial to sponsor the USA Pavilion at the World’s Fair in Milan, which runs from May through October. The fair’s theme is “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life,” and will include performances, meetings, and conferences on the topic.
“Feeding the Earth, whose population will grow by 2.5 billion (to more than 9 billion) by 2050, is daunting,” says Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Chairman of CNH Industrial N.V. “Our task is to give our small contribution by equipping farmers with the means to produce the maximum food possible. No one has the magic recipe, but everyone can and must do their part. This is what the challenge is all about: our vision of the future and the legacy we want for generations.”
CNH Industrial owns brands that produce tractors and agricultural machinery, as well as commercial and construction vehicles.
FCA US will be the exclusive automotive sponsor of the USA Pavilion, and the building will feature images from Ram Truck’s “Farmer” campaign. A food truck area will also be located outside the pavilion, which will feature Fiat Professional Ducato vehicles.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles also will provide automobiles for transportation for Expo staff. The 105 “eco-sustainable” cars include 50 Fiat 500L Natural Power, 10 Fiat 500e electric-powered, and 10 executive sedans.
The World’s Fair in Milan will bring together more than 140 countries over a period of six months to talk about possible solutions to feed the planet in the future. The USA Pavilion is a 40,000 square feet space that will cost $60 million to build. The building will feature a vertical farm and two floors of exhibits.
