FCA US Opens $10.4M Mopar Parts Distribution Center in Romulus

Auburn Hills-based automaker FCA US today announced the opening of a 500,000-square foot Mopar Parts Distribution Center (PDC) in Romulus. The facility is the second new Mopar PDC to open in the U.S. this year, representing a $10.4 million investment and employing more than 100 workers.

An additional PDC opened earlier this year in Virginia, which brings FCA US’ total investment to $22.6 million in 2017 to strengthen its parts distribution network nationwide. The company currently operates 23 PDCs in North America. Mopar has also recently expanded its international parts distribution network to include four new centers, with joint ventures in Asia, Europe, and South America.

“The opening of our new Romulus PDC reinforces the Mopar brand’s commitment to providing dealers and customers with best-in-class service,” says Pietro Gorlier, head of parts and service for FCA US. “As we close our 80th anniversary celebration, Mopar’s vision is stronger than ever.

“This state-of-the-art PDC ensures that we can deliver the right part at the right time, and is further proof of our ongoing investment in enhancing operational excellence and customer satisfaction.”

The Romulus PDC is expected to generate ancillary economic opportunities for local businesses, including building and machine maintenance, transportation, janitorial management, landscaping, and more.

The facility was built to address growth in sales and active part numbers in the Mopar distribution network, and will focus on parts that comprise 80 percent of daily dealership order volumes, like those needed for maintenance and repairs.
