Auburn Hills-based FCA US LLC will display its updated Uconnect system that features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.

“With the launch of the fourth generation of Uconnect systems, we are continuing to minimize the everyday stresses of busy lifestyles by providing drivers with a variety of ways to stay conveniently connected to their vehicles,” says Joni Christensen, head of Uconnect marketing for FCA.

Christensen says the new version has touchscreens with improved resolution and brightness, along with faster startup times and enhanced processing power. In turn, with Apple CarPlay, drivers can use their iPhone in the car, integrating Siri voice control along with phone calls, music, messages, and directions. Android Auto offers access to Google Maps, Google Play Music, and Google search through the vehicle.

FCA’s display at the CES Show will also feature concepts for monitoring drivers’ daily habits including traffic patterns and calendar events; a workload manager to help limit distractions to the driver; a privacy mode feature that determines when a passenger is present in the vehicle; and an intelligent concierge that is programmed to learn drivers’ preferences and can provide suggestions.

FCA will also show off its 2016 Dodge Charger Pursuit with a Uconnect touchscreen system specifically designed for law enforcement. Christensen says it has a 12-inch touchscreen, five times larger than a standard screen.

The International Consumer Electronics Show, or CES, will be held Wednesday through Saturday at various locations throughout Las Vegas, including the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center. Also at the CES Show, Chevrolet will debut an enhanced version of the myChevrolet mobile app.
