Fash Bash Returns in August to Detroit Institute of Arts

The Founders Junior Council, the young professionals’ auxiliary of the Detroit Institute of Arts founded more than 50 years ago, will host its signature fundraiser, Fash Bash, on Aug. 11.

Proceeds from the event, to be held at the DIA, will benefit the council’s recent pledge of $1 million to the museum’s endowment campaign.

“A vibrant mix of fashion, art and, philanthropy, Fash Bash offers a summer evening set in the … cultural and architectural gem that is the Detroit Institute of Arts,” says Amy Zimmer, president of the Founders Junior Council.

This year’s event features an outdoor cocktail party and a Neiman Marcus “Art of Fashion” runway show in the museum’s Great Hall, which will be curated for the third year by Ken Downing, the department store’s senior vice president and fashion director.

An after party with beverages and dancing will take place following the show.

Zimmer says this year’s theme plays off the Post-Modernist era idea of a “happening,” and guests will be treated to a medley of mysterious happenings throughout the evening.

Tickets for the event, which starts at 7 p.m., range from $150 to $750.
