Farmington Hills-based Attorneys Title Agency has acquired the Michigan operations of Stewart Title Co., a global real estate services company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“This acquisition marries Stewart’s financial security and market leadership in technology with Attorneys Title Agency’s local expertise and size,” says William Robinson Jr., president of Attorneys Title Agency. “(The acquisition) will enable us to diversify and offer a greater range of services to our customers.”
Robinson says as a result of the acquisition, Attorneys Title Agency has established a national relocation services division, offering customers a range of employee relocation title and settlement services. He says the division will operate nationally, and will complement company’s existing national settlement, title production, and lenders services divisions.
Attorneys Title Agency will obtain Stewart Title’s Michigan offices in Livonia, Sterling Heights, and Holland and will retain the majority of Stewart’s employees in those offices.
Attorneys Title Agency, which offers residential and commercial title insurance, title searches, and escrow services, has more than 40 offices in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, in East Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Traverse City, among others. The company has nearly 450 employees.
Houston-based Stewart Title provides title insurance and related information services required for settlement by the real estate and mortgage industries.
