Farmington Hills Haberdashery Launches Subscription Sock Service

The owners of the The Shirt Box, a Farmington Hills-based haberdashery, have launched a new subscription service start-up called The Sock HookUp, which delivers men’s socks directly to a subscriber’s or gift recipient’s door every month.

“Many men still do wear a traditional suit to the office, and that limits how they can use fashion to add a bit of their own personality to their wardrobe,” says Ron Elkus, founder and co-owner of The Sock HookUp and The Shirt Box. “Showing off a little sock can be fun. It creates a statement and makes you memorable.”

He says the socks are high quality and fashion-forward, and members of the service won’t receive duplicates in their subscription.

Membership options are available for three months, ($42); 6 months, ($72); and 12 months, ($120), and one pair of socks is delivered each month.

NPD Group, a company that provides global market research trends and insights, estimated that in 2013, U.S. shoppers spent $2.8 billion on men’s socks.

The Shirt Box, located at 32500 Northwestern Hwy., was founded 35 years ago. The haberdashery focuses on providing “hook ups” for men’s suits and casual wear, such as shirts, ties, cufflinks, pocket squares, and socks.
