Farmington Hills’ Burns & Wilcox, a global provider of wholesale insurance brokerage and underwriting, has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Environmental Underwriting Solutions (EUS) in Birmingham, Ala., a wholesale insurance broker specializing in placing complex environmental exposures, from Insurance Office of America (IOA).
Burns & Wilcox expects the deal to close within the next four to six weeks. Financial details have not been released.
EUS provides expert counsel and wholesale brokerage services across a variety of environmental risks, including general liability, pollution, professional liability, auto, workers’ compensation, and excess, among others.
“This acquisition aligns with our vision for Burns & Wilcox shared earlier this year. We will be aggressive in pursuing independent or highly specialized wholesale brokers and underwriters that further enhance our core business,” says Danny Kaufman, president of Burns & Wilcox. “Environmental Underwriting Solutions is highly respected in this sector – we expect environmental business to be yet another key growth area for us in the years ahead.”
Beth Linton, who served as president of EUS, will move to Burns & Wilcox as vice president, environmental brokerage, based in the company’s Atlanta office. She will continue overseeing her teams located in Atlanta, Birmingham, Ala., and Charleston, S.C., and report to Blaise D’Antoni, executive vice president, eastern U.S. for Burns & Wilcox.
“I am proud of the national footprint EUS has built. Now, as part of Burns & Wilcox, we will be backed by one of the industry’s leading independent insurance wholesalers,” says Linton. “The company has committed to invest and expand our reach as we partner with the existing Burns & Wilcox environmental unit, driving even greater collective growth.”
