Hazel Park’s Exlterra, a company that develops technologies to tackle environmental challenges, has launched MAZL, the newest model in its ultra-light drill rig family.
MAZL is a compact drilling rig designed for quick and easy rotary drilling, accommodating up to 12-inch diameter augers. Weighing 1,420 pounds and measuring 34 inches wide by 72 inches long, the model can be transported in the bed of most light pickup trucks and fit through standard fence openings and doorways.
“MAZL was originally designed to install NEPS, our tree care technology,” says Frank Muller, CEO of Exlterra. “But with its powerful drilling performances wrapped in a pocket size, we realized we have also filled a gap in the ultra-light and small rig market. I anticipate strong demand from utility, fencing, road construction (soil boring), and bollard companies for MAZL.”
For safety, MAZL has a standing driver’s position that provides a high vantage point for maximum visibility while maneuvering. It features the Exlterra telescopic tower, a hydraulic system, and runs on a 14-horsepower Kohler engine.
The model is the second drill rig added to the Exlterra drill rig line after HAZL in 2017. Production is slated to start in January 2020 with the first orders delivered at the end of the first quarter 2020. Both rigs can operate in extreme weather conditions.
Exlterra invented an energy-passive groundwater recharge product for water management in 2010. Today, it works to be an environmental innovator with NEPS, a sustainable tree care technology. Its mechanical platform, with HAZL and MAZL, completes the product ecosystem and provides drilling capabilities for its network of installers.
