Lakeview Hills Country Club and Resort in Lexington, north of Port Huron, and home to Emilio’s Prime Steakhouse, has named Alexander Young as its executive chef.
Young won the 2011 James Beard Award as best chef in the Great Lakes region. His experience includes establishing a custom butchering program and dry-aging facility while working for Zingerman’s in Ann Arbor.
He also has traveled and cooked all over Europe, including the preparation of cuisine in Milan at a James Beard Kitchen where only 13 chefs from around the globe participated.
“We are thrilled to have such a caliber of chef to join us in our pursuit to become the leading hospitality destination in the state of Michigan. Alex’s resume and career speaks for itself” says Tom Fabbri, president and CEO of Lakeview Hills.
Young already has introduced an all-new authentic Italian menu in the club’s San Marino Lounge, adding dishes such as chicken boscaiola, nidi di rondine, and insalata di farro.
“Alex and I go back a long time from working together in 1995 for few years and never lost touch and when the opportunity finally presented itself, it was a no brainer to bring him on to assist me in making Lakeview a culinary destination for the region” says Fadi Achour, general manager of Lakeview Hills.
Besides opening Emilio’s Prime Steakhouse last year, Lakeview Hills is adding several amenities this summer. A new wedding chapel and outdoor pavilion for events that will seat more than 500 guests is in the works and should be completed by June.
“Most of my life has been spent in the kitchen working with flavors and creating food that people will remember and would want to come back and experience it again,” says Young. “Winning the James Beard Award was of course a very special moment in my career and is something every chef dreams about, but I am still in the kitchen every day doing what I enjoy and love, and that is to cook and try to create the perfect balance of flavor, health, and inspiring food.”
Lakeview Hills has a pair of 18-hole golf courses with a full-service clubhouse. The club also features a full fitness center, a spa, and bike rental. Future plans include pickleball courts.
The club’s Lexington Ballroom can hold up to 300 guests, and there is the potential for hosting larger sized weddings outside, along with smaller indoor spaces for more intimate gatherings.
