The Chevrolet brand of Detroit’s General Motors Co. has released the first of a two-part documentary on the development of the new mid-engine Corvette Stingray.

Titled “Revolution: The Mid-Engine Corvette Development Story,” the 10-minute production can be viewed on Chevrolet’s Facebook and Instagram pages and its YouTube page.

In the documentary, the Corvette Stingray design team shares what inspired the groundbreaking design of the mid-engine Corvette Stingray.

It features Tom Peters, former director of exterior design at the GM Performance Car Studio, discussing the blending of iconic Corvette design elements as well as jet aircraft and racing influences on the car’s design.

“The 2020 Stingray is the culmination of all that experience,” Peters says.

Other Corvette team members participating in the documentary discussed the move to a mid-engine design. They are Brett Golliff, color and trim design manager for Chevrolet; Vlad Kapitonov, lead designer of performance car exteriors; Kirk Bennion, exterior design manager; and Tristan Murphy, interior design manager.

Part two will feature the perspective of Corvette’s engineers and airs at 1 p.m. Jan. 4.
