Regional healthcare system Detroit Medical Center (DMC) today announced the integration of C-suite executive positions from three local hospitals: DMC Detroit Receiving; Harper University; and Hutzel Women’s Hospital.

The three hospitals, which were previously served by two executive teams, will have the positions of COO, CFO, and CMO united to form one leadership team.

Tina Wood, former COO and CFO of DMC Harper University and Hutzel Women’s Hospital, will take over the role of COO, where she’ll focus her attention solely on operations and oversee DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital. Her new role also entails overseeing an additional 600,000 square feet, 832 inpatient beds, and management of all three hospitals’ capital budgets.

The position of CFO will be filled by Bridgett Feagin, who comes to DMC from United Way for Southeastern Michigan, where she has served as CFO since Jan. 2016. She will oversee financial operations, as well as supervise patient access, medical records, and revenue integrity.

Feagin’s hiring is a bit of a homecoming, as she spent 20 years in leadership roles with DMC before departing for United Way.

Dr. Patricia Wilkerson-Uddyback will continue her service as chief medical officer (CMO), but in an expanded role. She will now be responsible for overseeing a medical staff of 724 physicians, and more than 35,000 acute care inpatient admissions per year. Since 2010, Uddyback has reduced re-admission rates by more than five percent.

“I am so pleased to work with Tina, Bridgett and Pat in their new and expanded roles as we strive to integrate our executive team so we can continue to effectively deliver superior medical care to Southeastern Michigan,” says Scott Steiner, CEO of the three hospitals.

Together, the three women have more than 65 years of experience in healthcare.

“Each one of them is an accomplished healthcare leader, passionately committed to patient care, organizational excellence, and a strong culture of safety,” adds Steiner. “Their impressive experience in driving successful results in their respective areas of expertise will help us stay well positioned for the future.”
