Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans in Detroit, the nation’s second largest retail home mortgage lender, today announced a partnership with 100 Thieves, a leader in esports gaming. Springing from amateur events, esports are now organized online multiplayer video game competitions between professional players contending for prize money.
As part of the collaboration, 100 Thieves’ League of Legends (LoL) players and staff will live and train in the Rocket Mortgage Team House, a luxury home in California designed from the ground-up to meet the unique needs of world-class esport athletes. The partnership marks Rocket Mortgages’ first entry into esports.
“Home is at the heart of everything we do in our lives, whether that is welcoming a new member to the family or providing … (a) training house … for some of the most elite athletes in esports,” says Jay Farner, CEO of Quicken Loans.
“Quicken Loans is looking forward to joining 100 Thieves and the team’s tech savvy fans for an exciting year of gameplay. We are aligning our brand with a subculture that embodies what we stand for as a company — industry disrupting and groundbreaking innovation.”
The Rocket Mortgage Team House, located in Venice, features more than 6,000 square feet of what is called “pure gaming nirvana.” The house enables 100 Thieves’ athletes to focus on developing their skills while providing direct access to any resource necessary to ensure the team’s success, including sports psychologists, analysts, nutritionists, and personal trainers.
In addition to naming rights for the team house, Rocket Mortgage will receive prominent logo placements on the 100 Thieves team jersey and integration in its social and digital media channels.
“The Rocket Mortgage Team House gives us the chance to practice constantly, call team meetings in minutes, and build synergy both in and outside of gaming as a team,” says Neil Hammad, head coach of 100 Thieves and a veteran LoL. “This is crucial for maintaining a competitive environment.”
Hammad is joined at the Rocket Mortgage Team House by a full roster of experienced LoL players. 100 Thieves is one of 10 teams selected to compete in the 2018 North American League of Legends Championship Series (NA LCS).
