Detroit-based private equity firm Huron Capital Partners has invested in Dallas-based Good Sportsman Marketing, which designs and distributes branded hunting accessories. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“(Good Sportsman Marketing) has built a great portfolio of products for the hunting enthusiast,” says Sean Roberts, a principal at Huron Capital. “We will be looking to further expand the presence of (Good Sportsman Marketing) brands by investing in sales and marketing efforts, and developing new products, while also seeking strategic add-on acquisitions.”

Sold nationally through specialty retailers, mass merchants, and online, Good Sportsman Marketing offers hunting accessories such as hearing protection and amplification, portable LED lighting, and deer feeders.

“We are excited to be partnering with Huron Capital and working with their team to execute our growth plans,” says Eddie Castro, CEO of Good Sportsman Marketing. “They are an experienced investor in a variety of consumer product businesses, and we look forward to working with them as we seek to expand the distribution of our products, grow our customer base, and pursue acquisitions.”

Roberts says Good Sportsman is Huron Capital’s third new platform investment in the past five weeks.  In May, the company acquired a majority ownership position in Wisconsin-based Systems Inc., and invested in California-based InterVision Systems.

The company’s sector focus includes business services, consumer products and services, specialty manufacturing, and healthcare.

Founded in 1999, Huron Capital has raised more than $1.1 billion in capital through four committed private equity funds, and has invested in more than 100 companies.
