General Motors Co. in Detroit today launched its OnStar Vehicle Insights, a telematics solution that provides fleet managers and drivers real-time vehicle data.
“We listened to our fleet customers’ feedback and have created a turnkey telematics solution,” says Ed Peper, U.S. vice president of General Motors Fleet. “OnStar Vehicle Insights helps simplify the fleet management process, allowing our fleet customers, large and small, to save time and money.”
Fleet managers will be able to keep track of vehicles’ locations; vehicle health including mileage, oil life, fuel efficiency, and receive service prompts and notifications; driver performance; and business insights such as data and trends.
Fleet drivers will be able to lock, unlock, and remotely start vehicles; maintain and reference trip history; and view their driving behaviors such as hard-braking events and performance scores.
The program is compatible with most 2015 model year and newer Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac vehicles. At launch, the service will be $15.99 per vehicle per month.
“This is just the beginning for OnStar Vehicle Insights,” says Michelle Calloway, head of OnStar Vehicle Insights at GM Global Innovation. “We plan to expand our service offerings over time, including the addition of mixed fleet compatibility, so even more customers will have the ability to experience the benefits of our telematics solution in the future.”
OnStar Vehicle Insights requires an active connected vehicle services plan.
