Detroit’s Display Group Adds 3-D Design Services to Offerings

2040

Detroit’s Display Group, an event specialist company located in Packard Building No. 22 along I-94 on Detroit’s east side, will now offer three-dimensional design and production offerings including hand-sculpting and digital 3-D scanning.

“We made a significant investment in new equipment and talent so that we can service our clients with their need for oversized items for exhibits, trade shows, sets, outdoor signage, architectural accents, and restaurant and event décor,” says Rick Portwood, president of the Display Group.

Portwood says new equipment in the DG3D Creation Studio includes digital design and miniature fabrication; digital 3-D routing, digital hot wire cutting; hand sculpting and finishing, a hard coating spray booth for a more durable finish; finish painting; and storage and delivery services.

“Combined with our existing rental inventory and custom graphic capabilities, we will be able to give clients a custom look, without a custom price tag,” Portwood says.

The Display Group offers furniture rentals, themed-decoration rentals, graphics and displays, and portable trade show kiosks, among other services.

Portwood says the DG3D Creation Studio has created materials for companies including Health Alliance Plan, Quicken Loans, Rocket Mortgage, Title Source, and Fox Sports, making vintage bobble heads for Fox’s April in the D promotional campaign.

He says the Display Group has added six new employees for the studio.

The Display Group, founded in 1991, has 40 employees. After acquiring the Packard Building No. 22 in 2014, the company announced last year it would spend $750,000 on renovations and upgrades to create a major event space and showroom. The five-year renovation plan includes repairing the roof, rehabilitating the existing cafeteria, installing a new elevator, and finishing the parking lots.
