The Detroit Tigers have revised their television and digital rights deal with Diamond Sports Group, which owns the FanDuel Sports Network (formerly Bally Sports), and have added new details about the new premium Home Plate Club and seating area behind home plate at Comerica Park.

The new TV agreement, terms of which weren’t disclosed, ensures that the Tigers will remain on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit for all in-market games that are not exclusively televised nationally, as well as pre- and postgame shows and original programming.

In addition to accessing games through a pay TV subscription, fans will be able to stream in-market Tigers games and other programming on the FanDuel Sports Network app by authenticating with their pay TV credentials or purchasing a direct-to-consumer subscription.

“We are excited to renew our longstanding partnership with the Tigers and to continue delivering broadcasts to passionate fans across Michigan,” says David Preschlack, CEO of Diamond Sports. “Through comprehensive linear and digital offerings, our renewed partnership ensures that Tigers games reach fans across a variety of platforms, keeping them connected to the team they love.”

At the Tigers’ den, construction workers at Comerica Park have dismantled the seating area between the dugouts behind home plate and have started digging to prepare for construction of the premium Home Plate Club that will be under those seats and open at some point during the 2025 baseball season.

The Home Plate Club will be an exclusive space with direct access to the new seats. Providing an “unparalleled experience” from the door to the diamond, Home Plate Club memberships include VIP parking at the McLaren Garage just north of the ballpark, a private entry, all-inclusive food and beverages, in-seat service, curated amenities, private restrooms, and more, according to the team.

The new seats above the new club will feature individual temperature controls, a first in all of sports, team officials say.

The 350 seats, specially designed for Ilitch Sports + Entertainment by Figueras in Barcelona, Spain, will offer quick-touch heating and cooling climate control technology developed by Promethient in Traverse City, allowing fans to experience enhanced comfortability while enjoying games and events at Comerica Park all year long.

The seats utilize THERMAVANCE technology, which pairs a thermoelectric device with graphene to efficiently cool or heat seat occupants, even in outdoor environments exposed to the elements. The upholstery is a marine-grade vinyl with special coating that reduces UV absorption, making the seat surface cooler on sunny days.

The seats measure 23 inches from center of armrest to center of armrest, providing four more inches of pitch (21 percent more space) than standard ballpark seats. They’ll also feature a high back and head rest, wider armrests with soft pads for additional comfort, cup holders, and up to one foot of additional legroom.

“From Opening Day 2025, fans will have maximum comfort enjoying games from seats with innovative heating and cooling features unprecedented in professional sports,” says Ryan Gustafson, president and CEO of Ilitch Sports + Entertainment.

“As we move into the heart of construction for the Home Plate Club, we’re curating an authentic Detroit atmosphere and integrating innovative elements to give it a unique experience. We will continue sharing the exciting new aspects that will showcase it as one of the best premium clubs in the country.”
