For the first time since 2003 — and after the COVID-19 pandemic thwarted its 2020 planned return — the city of Detroit will host a major home and garden show March 19-20 at Huntington Place (formerly Cobo Center and the TCF Center).

The Detroit Spring Home & Garden Show will cover 200,000 square feet of exhibit space inside the convention center and feature a guest appearance by HGTV star Nicole Curtis of “Rehab Addict.”

“It’s time for an event like this to come back to the city,” says Mark Nicholson, the show’s producer. “The show is the perfect opportunity for homeowners to see all of the latest trends and connect face-to-face with hundreds of local home improvement professionals — something that is sorely needed after the pandemic presented so many challenges with finding available resources and skilled trades workers. We’re looking forward to a great weekend in the city of Detroit.”

The show will be open from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on March 19, and from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on March 20. Tickets are $10 and available here. Curtis will deliver a presentation at 2 p.m. on March 19, sharing her expertise on home renovation and rehabbing in the city of Detroit.

The Detroit Spring Home & Garden Show attendees will be able to:

  • Save money on home improvement projects by taking advantage of “show only” discounts from exhibitors.
  • See all the latest trends in home remodeling and interior design.
  • Enjoy appearances by national and local home improvement celebrities.
  • Learn from DIY experts by taking advantage of demonstrations and free seminars.
  • Enter a variety of home makeover contests, including kitchens, and bathrooms.
  • Shop more than 100 local artisans.
  • Find out about living options in the city of Detroit with developers showcasing new apartments and condominiums.
  • Get free in-person appraisals of potential home treasures from antiques experts.

“The return of the Detroit Spring Home & Garden Show after nearly 20 years is another example of the recovery of our city’s housing market,” says Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan.

“Nowhere is more home renovation and remodeling taking place right now than in Detroit. Neighborhood home value have risen an average of 30 percent in the past year alone and we are seeing major investment in parks and our commercial corridors across the city. It’s a great time to own, invest, renovate and build in Detroit and bringing this event back home couldn’t have happened at a better time.”

Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans says: “Wayne County’s diversity doesn’t only apply to its population but to the wide variety of residences where they spend their time and raise their families. Regardless of where they live, every homeowner wants to make their place of residence as attractive and comfortable as it can be, and the opportunities for home improvement that the Home and Garden Show offers can only add to the momentum of recovery that is being experienced throughout our 43 communities.

With home renovation throughout the metro area booming, organizers say the Detroit Spring Home & Garden Show creates an opportunity for exhibitors to come face-to-face with thousands of homeowners who are ready to get their home improvement projects started for the new year and:

  • Pre-book business for the season.
  • Meet face-to-face with homeowners who are eager to get their projects started.
  • Grow business and increase customer base.
  • Create and build brand awareness.
  • Network with other industry professionals.

The Detroit Spring Home & Garden Show is being produced by the Gazette Media Group, a Troy-based company that publishes weekly community newspapers and produces a variety of consumer shows and events across southeast Michigan and the nation.
