PEA Inc., a multi-disciplined site development design firm with offices in southeast Michigan, has relocated its downtown Detroit office to a larger facility to accommodate its growing staff. The office, which overlooks Capitol Park at Bedrock’s 45 West Grand River building, opened for business following renovations.
“As PEA’s Detroit-based team continues to grow, we are thrilled to be involved with the resurgence and redevelopment of Detroit,” says James Butler, president of PEA. “The city of Detroit is full of redevelopment potential, and we want to use our creativity and expertise to help our clients develop new assets for the city.”
The Detroit office specializes in landscape architecture and civil engineering projects, with focus areas in urban design, master planning, open space and park design, and green storm-water infrastructure.
“PEA’s creative site design and engineering talent are a perfect addition to the Capitol Park neighborhood,” says Jim Ketai, CEO of Bedrock. “This area of downtown Detroit has seen an incredible transformation in just the last five years, including unique, locally owned shopping and dining options, as well as beautifully renovated residential buildings. We are excited to watch that activity continue to build.”
PEA Detroit is working on Capitol Park, Milliken State Park, Elmwood Neighborhood, and East Jefferson Meijer – Mixed Use Development. It was recently awarded the West Riverfront Park design project with Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates by the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy.
The projects will add to the company’s current Detroit portfolio, which include the recently constructed Cardio Vascular Institute on the Detroit Medical Center campus in Midtown. The office is led by Burke Jenkins, senior project manager.
PEA is privately owned and operates four offices in southeast Michigan. The company was founded in 1947 and employs more than 100 people. It also provides civil engineering, land surveying, and landscape architectural design services for land development nationwide.
