Detroit Auto Show to Host Second Annual Mobility “Match Meetings” Jan. 16

The North American International Auto Show, Michigan Economic Development Corp., and PlanetM are staging their second annual business-to-business AutoMobili-D Match Meetings on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from noon to 4 p.m. at Cobo Center.

The meetings are intended to promote new mobility-related collaborations among technology startups, automakers, suppliers, and venture capitalists.

More than 500 matchmaking business development meetings took place at the 2018 NAIAS, report the organizers.

“In its inaugural year, the AutoMobili-D Match Meetings at NAIAS have generated over $10 million in investment and contracts between corporations, investors, and startups,” says Seun Phillips, director of PlanetM, a partnership of mobility organizations, communities, educational institutions, research and development, and government agencies working together to develop and deploy the mobility technologies driving the future.

“Over 75 startups applied for meetings, each having the ability to participate in up to 20 meetings – translating into unmatched business development opportunities and exposure to key audience groups.”

NAIAS, MEDC, and PlanetM, along with Techstars Mobility, will arrange a series of vetted, prescheduled meetings for participating AutoMobili-D and NAIAS exhibitors. The meetings will take place during the first day of the auto show’s Industry Preview, an event that attracts 40,000 automotive and mobility experts from around the world.

“The North American International Auto Show is a global stage for game-changing companies to demonstrate and debut technologies on future mobility and transportation platforms,” says Bill Golling, chairman of the 2019 NAIAS Chairman. “What better way to promote continued collaboration and tap into the talent and energy of mobility innovators than through focused matchmaking spearheaded by the State of Michigan.
