The second edition of Detroit Art Week will take place July 17-21, expanding to five days of citywide programming celebrating contemporary art and culture.
Produced by Olu & Co., Detroit Art Week will feature 36 exhibition openings, 14 studio visits, 13 performances, eight panel discussions, and 11 special programs highlighting more than 150 artists and community members. It is open to the public and includes both free and ticketed events.
“This year, Detroit Art Week’s expanded programming aims to foster provocative discussions on the most pressing issues of our time, while also highlighting the diverse artistic practices, organizations, and businesses cultivated in the city,” say Aleiya Lindsey and Amani Olu, co-founders of Detroit Art Week. “We hope to engage an international audience with Detroit’s art scene and continue advancing Detroit’s legacy as a destination for innovation.”
Events will take place at Trumbull and Porter Hotel, Cass Café, Detroit Historical Museum, Detroit Public Library, Electric Studio, Eightfold Collective, Galerie Camille, Hamtramck Ceramck, K.OSS Contemporary Art, KO Studio Gallery, M Contemporary Art, Norwest Gallery of Art, PLAYGROUND DETROIT, Pewabic Pottery, Arnold’s, Red Bull Arts Detroit, Reyes| Finn, Library Street Collective, Simone DeSousa Gallery, The Scarab Club, and other locations.
