NFL Alumni Detroit Charity Golf Classic Coming to Wabeek Country Club

The NFL Alumni Association Detroit Chapter’s 44th Annual Charity Golf Classic will be played June 26 at Wabeek Country Club in Bloomfield Township. The event benefits Detroit area student scholarships.

Presented by Exchange Bar and Grill in Northville, the NFL Alumni Chapter of Detroit invites the community to participate in the 10 a.m. shotgun start preceded by an 8 a.m. breakfast.

“This event is not only fun, but it is critical to help student-athletes reach their athletic and academic potential,” says Pete Chryplewicz, president of the chapter and chair of the Golf Classic. “This event impacts our community, and we are proud to bring it back again this year.”

The NFL Alumni Association supports the community through a variety of initiatives, but the Super Bowl of Golf is the nonprofit organization’s cornerstone event. In addition, thanks to the generosity of previous supporters, more than 30 high school student-athletes from Wayne County have been given scholarships since 2012.

This year, NFL Alumni Association Detroit Chapter honors Alumni of the Year Mike Martin. A University of Michigan graduate, Martin entered the NFL as an 82nd overall draft pick in the 2012 Draft.

The Golf Classic also is a qualifier for the 2024 NFL Alumni Super Bowl of Golf, a national event that features a three-day trip.

UWM Rolls Out Six Fixed-rate Products to Help Brokers, Expands 1% Down Product

United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) in Pontiac today announced enhancements to its Conventional 1% Down product in addition to rolling out a suite of six fixed-rate jumbo products.

Brokers now have access to more competitive jumbo pricing, along with transparent investor guidelines and loan qualifications, giving them a leg up on big banks and retail lenders. This will give loan officers the flexibility to tailor a fixed jumbo loan to each borrower’s situation, helping them get into their homes faster, cheaper, and easier, according to UWM.

The company also announced enhancements to its Conventional 1% Down product, allowing borrowers with less than 80 percent of the area median income (AMI) to qualify. Those who qualify will put down 1 percent of the loan toward their down payment and UWM will then pay a 2 percent grant up to $4,000, for a total down payment of 3 percent.

“UWM continues to push the industry forward and today’s updates are huge wins for the broker channel and consumers across the country,” says Mat Ishbia, president and CEO of UWM. “We’ve seen tremendous success with both our previous jumbo products and the initial launch of the Conventional 1% Down program. These enhancements will further expand the loan options independent mortgage brokers have access to and continue to prove that they are the best way for a consumer to get a loan.”

Allison Transmission Debuts Next Gen Hydraulic Fracturing Transmission in China

Allison Transmission, which has an electrification engineering center in Auburn Hills, is introducing the Allison FracTran to the energy market in China during the 23rd China International Petroleum and Petrochemical Technology and Equipment Exhibition (CIPPE) May 31-June 2.

Designed from the ground up to meet the demands of the fracturing industry, the FracTran was initially introduced in North America in 2021. Its expansion into China signifies the demand Allison is experiencing outside of North America, particularly in the energy sector, and represents an incremental growth opportunity of $100 million in annual revenue for Allison’s global off-highway end market.

“Fracturing pumps are mainly used for shale oil and shale gas extraction,” says Kartik Ramanan, executive director of global off-highway and customer support and service engineering at Allison Transmission. “In China, these resources are located deep underground. Powerful equipment is required to get fracturing pumps to the well subsurface faster and deeper. The FracTran meets the needs of energy customers by delivering high reliability and powerful performance under pressure leading to increased productivity.”
