Beyond Basics Planning March 1 Journey Through Pages Event
Southfield-based literacy organization Beyond Basics is planning its 2024 Journey Through Pages event for March 1, 2024 at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. The event will be marking group’s 25th year of promoting literacy.

Beyond Basics recently hosted a holiday party at the Durfee Innovation Society to support 30 families in the local community. The organization also is continuing its annual holiday season coat drive.
“We have collected nearly 1,500 coats so far, and more are donated each day,” says PamelaGood, co-founder and CEO of Beyond Basics. “We are still collecting coats and hope to surpass last year’s total of coats donated.”

Forbes Honors Blue Chip Partners in Farmington Hills

Dearborn and Dearborn Heights Mayors to Address Jan. 16
Dearborn Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud and Dearborn Heights Mayor Bill Bazzi will address local business leaders and the public at the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce’s “A Tale of our Cities” breakfast Q&A from 8-10:30 a.m. Jan. 16 at the Park Place Caterers in Dearborn.
The event begins the chamber’s Future Focused Speaker Series.
The Jan. 16 occasion will include networking and breakfast followed by presentations Bazzi and Hammoud. Both mayors will give brief forecasts for 2024 and answer questions.
Space is limited and registration is required for this event. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the chamber website through Jan. 14, 2024.
