Courtyard by Marriott, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of 31 extraordinary hotel brands, has announced the completion of a significant renovation to transform both the interior and exterior of its Courtyard Detroit Downtown hotel.
The cost of the project was not provided.
Owned by Bedrock and operated by Marriott International, the 260-room hotel resides inside the Millender Center that connects to the Renaissance Center, Millender Center Detroit People Mover station, and the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center via an enclosed skyway.
“Our guests were top of mind in every choice we made during this renovation and the transformation the Courtyard Detroit Downtown has undergone over the past year is truly incredible,” says Margie Consolo, general manager for the Courtyard Detroit Downtown.
“We’ve created a welcoming space in the heart of Detroit where guests will feel at home, empowering them to relax and recharge in comfortable yet functional spaces. We are thrilled to be welcoming guests back to the new Courtyard Detroit Downtown hotel to experience the best service in the city.”
The hotel states it offers “the most sizeable guest rooms in downtown Detroit, all of which have been completely renovated with upgraded fixtures and a contemporary design to make guests feel right at home, even on the road.”
The hotel caters to individuals, families, and business travelers.
For visitors who prioritize their health and wellness, Courtyard Detroit Downtown offers guests a spacious indoor pool, a sauna, and completely upgraded fitness amenities unique to the property.
The hotel now has an elevated COR fitness center inclusive of sleek locker rooms, a cardio center overlooking the city and the Detroit River, a yoga studio, and free weights suited to meet all fitness needs.
Courtyard Detroit Downtown also has new features tailored to today’s business travelers, meeting planners, and those looking for a quiet area to work during their stay.
New ergonomic workspaces have been added to the hotel to complement existing spaces and have been modernized to now offer individual breakout rooms, mid-sized meeting rooms, and large conference rooms.
All spaces are fully equipped with NodesNow, an all-in-one meeting ecosystem that includes 86-inch 4K display projection screens with multi-touch interface for smarter meetings.
Additionally, the exterior of the hotel has undergone significant changes, including enhanced landscaping designs that encompass the hotel entryways and the rooftop. The expansive renovations were led by The Gettys Group, the project architect was Detroit-based Neumann/Smith Architecture, and the general contractor was Albert M. Higley Co., which has an office in Detroit.
“The Courtyard Detroit Downtown’s transformation brings new energy to both the property and the hospitality landscape in a city that continues to rise,” says Andrew Leber, vice president of hospitality at Bedrock. “The dedication to service and the overall hospitality experience for every guest is exceptional, making the hotel a top destination for visitors from near and far.
During the NFL Draft in Detroit from April 25-27, the Courtyard by Marriott was an official sponsor, hosting Draft-focused events where guests experienced a preview of the newly renovated property.
Throughout the summer, the Courtyard team will host pop ups and other events to coincide with iconic events in the city. A formal ribbon cutting ceremony is slated for this summer.
