Birmingham-based countertop supplier Clio Holdings today announced the acquisition of U.S. Marble, a nationwide supplier of bathroom surfaces with locations in Michigan and Tennessee. U.S. Marble is Clio’s fifth acquisition since the company’s formation in June 2016 by investment firm Oakland Standard.

U.S. Marble was established in 1967 as a family business by John and Sharon Bishop. They grew from a single shop in a small, mid-Michigan community to a national supplier of countertops with over 200 employees. In 2016, the company supplied engineered marble, stone, and solid surface products in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, with products in over 100 colors for vanity tops, shower walls, and other customizable surfaces.

“U.S. Marble’s nationwide distribution model and custom capabilities are one of a kind in the countertop industry,” says Bryan Tolles, partner of Oakland Standard and founder of Clio. “John and Sharon Bishop bring a wealth of industry knowledge and we’re pleased to have them continue with the company as partners of Clio.”

Clio was formed to partner leading countertop suppliers and fabricators together, providing the capital and operational expertise to upgrade, differentiate, and professionalize the home furnishing industry. The company currently serves a variety of clients throughout the countertop market, including new homebuilders, commercial contractors, home improvement centers, and kitchen and bath dealers.

Clio now employs 750 team members at 13 locations, and generates over $100 million in annual revenue.
