The Chrysler brand of Stellantis in Auburn Hills is commemorating its 100th anniversary on June 6, 2025, which marks the exact day a century ago when Maxwell Motors officially became Chrysler Corp. with Walter P. Chrysler as president.
Chrysler’s former headquarters at the southwest convergence of I-75 and the Davison Freeway in Highland Park was a sprawling campus first developed in 1909 by Maxwell Motors. Through a series of mergers, expansions, and acquisitions, in 1925 Chrysler Corp. purchased what was Maxwell-Chalmers’ 150-acre manufacturing campus.
Chrysler is celebrating the occasion by honoring the founder’s legacy of innovation, engineering excellence, and memorable designs as well as launching a 100th anniversary edition of the Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid minivan.
“Chrysler’s 100th anniversary is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” says Chris Feuell, CEO of the Chrysler brand for Stellantis. “How often do you get to sit behind the wheel of history and feel what it was like when Chrysler revolutionized the road? Because Chrysler isn’t just a name — it’s a symbol of progress and a century of innovation.
“From engineering breakthroughs to design firsts, Chrysler has always been ahead of its time. And while we’ve brought amazing products to life over the past 100 years, we’re not done yet. The Chrysler brand continues to lead, with new innovations, bold ideas and continued investment in the future.”
Today, more than 1,500 employees will gather on the lawn at the Chrysler Technology Center in Auburn Hills for a group photo honoring those who have made 100 years of Chrysler possible.
The occasion also will be commemorated with a unique time capsule replica of the iconic toolbox Walter P. Chrysler used early in his career, sealed with rare Chrysler memorabilia and a list of names of those participating in the group photo.
