Chevy Introduces Street-performance Inspired Special Edition Silverado

1016

Chevrolet today unveiled the 2016 Silverado Rally Edition at the Texas Motor Speedway, inspired by street-performance trucks with hood and body-side stripes. The truck will be available later this month.

“We introduced several special editions in 2015 — each combining equipment and appearance packages designed for specific enthusiasts in mind,” says Sandor Piszar, truck marketing director at Chevy. “They clearly resonated with buyers, selling in one-third the time — and attracting new, younger, and more affluent buyers to the brand — than the industry average.”

Piszar says the Rally Edition has a monochromatic exterior with black accents, stripes, and black wheels in either 20- or 22-inch sizes. The 2016 Silverado offers a V8 engine that gets 420 horsepower and 460 pounds per feet of torque, Android and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

He says to celebrate the introduction of the new Rally, Silverado special editions will be at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth this weekend, each paired with a different Chevrolet Racing driver. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is campaigning for the Rally Edition, while Austin Dillon is campaigning for the Realtree Edition, offering camouflage accents on the interior and exterior. The edition is available later this spring.

Kyle Larson is campaigning for the Silverado 1500 Midnight Edition, while Kasey Kahne is campaigning for the Silverado 2500 Midnight Edition. Both trucks are currently available, and offer black wheels, black body-cladding, black front and rear fascias, and a black interior. All four trucks will be on display at the Chevy display at the Duck Commander 500 race this weekend.
