Chevrolet, headquartered in Detroit, announced that the Silverado 1500 will introduce several levels of towing features for 2019.

All light-duty Silverado models will have myChevrolet trailering phone app capability and customers can add the Advanced Trailering System, which includes access to the system in-vehicle.

The myChevrolet app will offer features such as pre-departure step-by-step towing checklists and a glossary of towing terms for compatible smart phones and data plans.

The Advanced Trailering System, for customers who tow more often, features auto parking brake assist, hitch guidance with hitch view, and a trailer tire pressure monitoring system.

The Trailering Camera Package, which has three cameras that provide a 270-degree view, works in conjunction with the myChevrolet app and the Advanced Trailering System, and provides a more comprehensive trailer view.

“Ultimately, these technologies serve to eliminate common pain points of towing and help provide customers with a less stressful experience while trailering,” says Tim Herrick, executive chief engineer of full-size trucks for General Motors.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado goes on sale in the fall of 2018.
