Troy-based Chemical Bank today announced the selection of Jim Robinson as regional president of the company’s southeast Michigan Region.

As regional president, Robinson will be responsible for driving growth and ensuring consistent service delivery throughout the area. He will also partner with Chemical Bank’s southeast Michigan advisory board, comprised of community and civic leaders who work to ensure the bank’s focus is properly aligned with the overall community banking delivery philosophy.

“We are extremely pleased to bring Jim’s professional knowledge, experience, and energy to our organization,” says Tom Shafer, Chemical Bank’s executive vice president and director of regional and community banking. “His deep experience in the financial industry makes him a great addition to our team in the southeast Michigan community.  I look forward to his leadership as Chemical Bank continues its growth in this key market.”

Robinson began his banking career at Michigan National Bank and brings more than 20 years of banking experience to his role at Chemical Bank. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and loan group manager at Comerica Bank, where he spent 17 years and was responsible for a large middle market lending team.

“While we are proud to be the largest bank headquartered in Michigan, we will remain rooted in our community banking and customer focused approach,” Robinson says.  “I am excited to lead the efforts of our well-established team in this vibrant region.”

Robinson says Chemical Bank is the largest banking company headquartered and operating branches in Michigan. Chemical Financial Corp. operates 262 branch locations in Michigan, northeast Ohio, and other states through its subsidiary, Chemical Bank.
