The largest carpooling provider in the country, California’s Scoop, has announced a partnership with Bedrock to bring a carpooling service to Detroit.

The Scoop app allows local commuters to carpool to work with neighbors and co-workers. The app’s algorithm uses pre-scheduled pick-up times, traffic, and feedback from prior trips to match users to carpools. Commuters can choose to ride or drive based on their schedules. All costs for the commute are split among the passengers, allowing them to save.

“In today’s increasingly busy world, our commutes are taking a toll on us – mentally, physically, and emotionally,” says Robert Sadow, co-founder and CEO of Scoop. “We’re proud to partner with Bedrock to help improve what is often one of the worst parts of our day: our commutes. Together, we hope to make commutes even more enjoyable and efficient for local residents, ultimately helping them be happier and less stressed in their day-to-day lives.”

Scoop now is available for residents from seven ZIP codes across Detroit, including 48201, 48202, 48207, 48208, 48209, 48216, and 48226. The carpool company joins Bedrock’s growing alternative mobility initiatives.

“Bedrock’s goal is to position Detroit at the forefront of mobility innovation, by providing the best alternative transportation experiences for our team members, tenants, and visitors to Detroit,” says Kevin Bopp, vice president of parking and mobility at Bedrock. “This partnership with Scoop allows us to offer another reliable and effective method for commuting to and through our city. As more and more downtown institutions take advantage of this initiative, Scoop will be able to expand its footprint and invest even more aggressively to serve a broader Michigan base.”

Scoop encourages organizations to provide a commute solution for their workforce, which helps employees feel happier, less stressed, and be more productive at work. Scoop’s managed carpool program provides onsite marketing, program implementation and management, and reporting.

The Scoop app is available for download. The first carpool is available at 5 a.m. and the last is available at 8:40 p.m.

Detroit is Scoop’s first metro market area off the west coast. Since debuting in 2015, more than six million carpool trips have been completed through Scoop. LinkedIn, Workday, T-Mobile, and Symantec offer Scoop carpooling to their employees.

Bedrock is a full-service real estate firm specializing in acquiring, developing, leasing, financing and managing commercial and residential buildings. It was founded in 2011.
