As a part of Cadillac’s expanded partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America, Cadillac House, a new 12,000-square-foot public space located on the ground level of the auto brand’s global headquarters in New York, will serve as an official runway for this year’s New York Fashion Week: Men’s.
“Cadillac is redefining what it means to be a patron of the arts, and our partnership with (the Council of Fashion Designers of America) has emphasized that commitment in fashion,” says Melody Lee, director of brand marketing at Cadillac. “Cadillac House is meant to be a place that our community and partners can make their own dynamic experiences within.”
Cadillac House will host a variety of menswear fashion shows from July 12-14, featuring designers such as Timo Weiland, Gypsy Sport, EFM, Katama, Assembly New York, and Thaddeus O’Neil.
The venue will also open a store called Retail Lab within its space on July 15. A new designer will be selected to customize the lab every quarter, and receive guidance and mentorship from industry experts.
“Every designer aspires to a freestanding retail experience that allows them to tell their brand story and connect directly with consumers,” says Steven Kolb, president and CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. “Cadillac’s commitment to the industry will help the selected designers make this a reality.”
Cadillac House, which opened in June, is home to several partnerships and programs, including events such as concerts and interactive art installations.
In Related News… GM and Lyft have announced plans to expand their Express Drive vehicle access program to California and Colorado.
The program, which launched in Chicago, Boston, Washington D.C., and Baltimore earlier this year, provides a series of rental hubs where Lyft drivers can obtain short-term rental vehicles from GM.
“We are very pleased with the success of Express Drive and how quickly the team implemented the program since our alliance was announced earlier this year,” says Dan Ammann, president of GM.
He says a total of 130,000 people who applied to become Lyft drivers but didn’t have qualifying cars will now have the opportunity to drive on the platform in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Denver.
As part of the expansion, Express Drive’s California members will also have access to the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV and the extended-range electric 2016 Chevrolet Volt.
