Brix Wine and Charcuterie Boutique, an upscale wine bar in Detroit’s West Village, will be celebrating its grand opening with a weekend full of events from Aug. 17-19. Housed in a former bank, the 1,100-square-foot restaurant is designed to give customers an intimate setting, including a private lounge area inside a redesigned vault.
The public events run from 4 p.m. – 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday and guests will be treated to wine, Italian wine, and rosé tastings on those days, respectively.
Boutique owner Mikiah Westbrooks received support for the endeavor from Techtown Detroit’s SWOT City program, which provides support for small businesses in Detroit neighborhoods. Westbrooks also received $32,000 in funding for Brix in April 2016, and has received support from Rebrand Cities and the Michigan Women’s Foundation.
“I am so grateful to Motor City Match, TechTown Detroit, Rebrand Cities, and the Michigan Women’s Foundation,” says Westbrooks. “Their continued support and commitment to small businesses in Detroit is part of the reason Brix is a reality.”
Brix is located at 7968 Kercheval Ave and regular hours of operation will be announced in the coming weeks, as well as a retail wine program.
