Birmingham Countertop Supply Consolidation Co. Continues Expansion with Kansas City Acquisition

2050

As part of its plan to actively seek new opportunities in major metro areas across the United States, Clio Holdings, a Birmingham-based consolidator of regional countertop supply and fabrication businesses, has acquired Kansas City-based Top Master. Terms of the deal, which is the company’s third acquisition since launching this year, were not disclosed.

Top Master designs, fabricates, and installs a variety of custom countertop products, including natural stone and solid surface, that are sold and used in both residential and commercial applications.

“We were impressed by the Top Master organization from day one; management’s passion for the business is evidenced by their well-regarded customer base and leading market position,” says Bryan Tolles, founder of Clio and partner of Oakland Standard Co., a Birmingham-based private equity firm.

Top Master, which says it is the largest fabricator of countertops in the Midwest, has six locations and primarily serves the Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska markets.

Founded in 1984, the company is also a member of industry trade groups, Artisan Group, Rockheads, and Marble Institute of America.

Following the acquisition, Clio now has holdings in eight states and serves customers within the countertop industry, including new homebuilders, commercial contractors, kitchen/bath dealers, and home improvement centers.

By investing in regional countertop suppliers and fabricators, Clio aims to provide capital and operational expertise to the countertop industry.
